Born in Linz, Austria, in 1982 Claudia Heinzl received a Master of Philosophy in Communications with a joint study of Dramatics and Philosophy at the University of Vienna, Austria. Besides her academics Claudia graduated in acting from the Vienna based acting school Pygmalion. At that time, she started to write her first short scripts and poems.
Claudia worked as a television- and film actress for Austria’s biggest TV station, ORF, and in various other independent projects. She performed in several plays at Pygmalion Theater and worked as voiceover for radio commercials.
As a tutor for the University of Vienna, Claudia taught the course Rhetoric and Presentations skills.
In 2006, she co-wrote and co-directed her debut fiction drama Anel, which got financial support from the Government of Salzburg and was screened at the Schikaneder movie theater in Vienna.
In fall of 2006, Claudia moved to New York City, USA. One year later she graduated in filmmaking from the New York Film Academy. She wrote, directed and produced several short films, which were screened at theaters in Vienna and the Goethe Institute in New York City.
Claudia has worked for U.S. director Spike Lee’s Production Company 40 Acres & a Mule Filmworks, for New York City based Production Company Highline Films as well as for Draw Pictures in Los Angeles.
She works in New York City and Vienna.
